A local treasure…
Designed in 1973 by architect Russell Breeden, picturesque Sleepy Hole Golf Course is located along the shores of the beautiful Nansemond River. Once the home of the LPGA Crestar Classic during the 1980s, the course has played host to a number of amateur and professional events through its history. Today, the facility annually hosts our Amateur Championship, a VSGA point rankings event, which showcases the talents of many of Virginia and the East Coast’s top gentlemen amateurs. Our course took a well-earned rest for renovation in 2003 under the supervision of architect Tom Clark, and today continues to thrive as one of the most popular facilities in the Tidewater Region. In 2012, our Golf Pro Shop, Grille, and Event facilities established a permanent home in the renovated Obici House, which remains as one of the most iconic clubhouses in the area.
The classic feel with playable tree-lined fairways, beautiful landscaping, and well-placed bunkers will take you back to a different era of golf course design. Our practice facilities feature a full-length driving range, short game area, and putting green. The legendary 18th hole, rated as “the most difficult finishing hole” in Hampton Roads is waiting to challenge you. We look forward to your visit and the many that will follow…
